Underwater Hockey

Welcome to my 4th blog already! Today I'm going to tell you something about Underwater Hockey.

Underwater Hockey is a team sport that takes place at the bottom of a swimming pool. The intention is to get the puck, which is about 1300 grams, as often as possible in the opponent's goal. A team consists of 6 field players and a maximum of 4 alternators. The players wear the color of their team (black/white) on their cap. The players have a small hockey stick (that is convenient for use under water) in the same color. The referees wear a red cap and a yellow shirt. A match lasts 30 minutes (2x15 minutes). The game is about speed, technique and ... a long breath.

Underwater Hockey was discovered in 1956 in Great Britain, when a group of divers sought an alternative to keep their condition up in the winter. Now the sport is popular in Great-Britain, France, New Zealand, South Africa, Belgium, the Netherlands and Australia. The sport is practiced there at a high level. In the Netherland, the sport is practiced across almost the entire country.

I would like to play this sport for once, it looks fun but I don't think I'll like this for a long time.

This was my blog for this week, I hope to see you next week!! ;)

xoxo Nikki
